I subscribe to a monthly beauty box called BoxyCharm and decided it would be fun to share what’s in the box and talk about my thoughts on the products! I love these boxes because you get so much value for so little money! The box is $21.00 USD per month and in this April box, I got $138.00 worth of product! How amazing is that?? Okay, let’s get started…
Dr. Brandt Pores No More Vacuum Cleanser
Description provided in the box: This award-winning, pore refining mask is an extraction specialist – unclogging and lightening the look of pores and reducing excess oil from the skin’s surface.
Retail Price: $47.00 USD | #drbrandtcandy
My thoughts: I didn’t feel the cooling sensation much at all, but that’s okay. It dried very quickly, but I still left it on for about 7 minutes. My skin felt soooo smooth after taking it off. I’m not sure it reduced the appearance of my pores, but I’ve only used it once. As a first impression, it definitely has potential and I will keep using it to see if I get results with my pores! I love how soft it made my skin feel.
Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow: Liquid Highlighter
Description provided in the box: Glow like a goddess with this creamy highlighter that builds from sheer to intense. Ultra-concentrated pigments & pearls are suspended in the hybrid gel-cream, oil free formula that you can mix with your liquid foundation, or wear alone for naturally lit luminosity. Infused with rose water, it slips softly onto skin and keeps moisture in with tapered, squeezable packaging to put the highlight exactly where you want it.
Retail Price: $29.00 USD | #tartecandy
My thoughts: I received the colour stunner. This highlighter is way too sparkly for my cheekbones. I really like it for my nose, actually. Maybe I like a more blinding highlight on my nose than on my cheekbones? It is definitely blinding with minimal effort, but I just don’t like all the little sparkles. The sparkles don’t seem to show up as much on the nose.
I’m going to try it mixed in with my foundation. I’ve been really into that lately – a sheer coverage of foundation mixed with liquid highlighter. It looks so glowy, but natural – I love it!
ColourPop Element of Surprise Eyeshadow Palette
Description provided in the box: Get a load of this bold beauty. The perfect mix of edgy dramatic with a girly twist and bold pops of colour, this baby has all four finishes: matte, metallic, satin, and duochrome, make it so easy to shake up the scene.
Retail Price: $16.00 | #colourpopcandy
My thoughts: I LOVE ColourPop eyeshadows. I just recently tried them (the Dream St. palette was my first and it’s amazing), but so far I’m very impressed! They are so affordable and so pigmented and blendable! The colours in this palette are really beautiful. I was actually surprised by a bunch of them! Silk Street was a much brighter purple than I expected! Rayon was more purple than it looks. Late night looks kind of brown, but when I swatched it, it looks like this beautiful rose gold colour – can’t wait to try that one out! Subdue surprised me too. I first tried applying it with a brush and it was pretty, but then I wanted more. When I applied it with my finger, it completely transformed. It’s so bright and sparkly! I was not expecting that. Labyrinth looks like a soft brown colour – good for using as a transition shade, but it’s actually much more pink than it looks! I love the look I created with this palette (even though it’s much brighter than I had planned!). I can’t wait to try the other colours. Here is the look:
The BrowGal Instatint – Tinted Eyebrow Gel
Description provided in the box: Tinted eyebrow gel with microfibers to achieve a natural hair look. Perfect for the customer who wants a quick, but natural fill to their brows.
Retail Price: $22.00 USD | #browgalcandy
My thoughts: The colour I received is Light Hair 03.
After using it along with an eyebrow pencil: I like what this product did for my brows. I don’t have much for brows. I have to fill them in quite a bit, so I need any help I can get. I do feel this product gave my brows a fuller look. It wasn’t anything extraordinary, but it helped a bit. I will continue to use it!
After using it on its own: I actually like this product on its own. It just fills out my brows in a nice way so that they look super natural – like these could actually be my true brows. They aren’t perfect and have patchy areas, but it’s nice on the “no-makeup” makeup days!
Here is my before and after using only this eyebrow gel:
Adesse Hi Definition Liquid Lipstick
Description provided in the box: Luxurious, creamy, long wearing liquid lipstick. Provides the dazzling, full coverage of a lipstick with the ease of wand applicator. Made with advanced polymers and intense pigments for long lasting, brilliant color and intense shine in a single sweep. Cruelty Free, Gluten Free, Paraben Free, EU Compliant.
Retail Price: $24.00 USD | #adessecandy
My thoughts: I don’t see a colour name anywhere on this product. Does it only come in the one colour? I like the colour, though. It’s a glossy finish. I think this would look good on almost every skin tone. It claims to be long-wearing, but I didn’t find that it lasted very long at all actually. It maybe lasted a couple hours and it doesn’t stand a chance when eating is involved. Here is a swatch:
