Hey, everyone!

So, I’ve decided that I am in need of a bit of a blogging break.  And once I return, I think I’m going to slow down a bit.  Lately, my blog and reading have felt more like a chore than a hobby.  I figure that that’s not how it should be, right?  I mean, I started this blog as an outlet to talk about books.  And it was really fun.  Talking about the books I read, what I thought, and finding out what other people thought.  But then, I discovered that I could get free books as long as I reviewed them and a lot of the time they weren’t exactly books that I was interested in or books that I would have picked up otherwise.  Which is partly what leads me to the feeling I have now.  I have decided not to do review requests for books that I’m not interested in anymore.  And I’m for surely not going to request books on NetGalley and Edelweiss that I don’t actually want to read anymore.  Then, I think I will go back to enjoying reading and reviewing more!  Why should I view reading as a chore or a job when I am supposed to love doing it and I did love doing it?  Don’t get me wrong, I do still enjoy reading…but lately, I just haven’t been wanting to pick up those books as often.

Also, I have been doing a lot of Book Blasts/Blog Tours and such things on my blog, which I think I will cut down on upon my return as well.  They are very time-consuming to write up.  So, I think I’m going to limit myself to one per week.  I think that this will help with me viewing my blog as a hobby and not a job as well!

I am definitely in need of a break.  Other things that run through my mind are: Do people even like my blog?  Do they read my posts or do they just visit for my giveaways?  Is my Newsday Tuesday worth writing up every week?  Do my readers even read it?  These are all questions that I am going to ponder over my blogging time off.

So, I will be on a hiatus for a couple weeks.  In the meantime…if you would like to help me out with something…I leave you, my readers, with an important question (that will help in my decision-making):

Do you read my Newsday Tuesday?  What do you think of it?  Would you really care if I didn’t post it every week?

Okay, I guess that was more than one question…but, please answer honestly, as I really want to know.  Feel free to give any suggestions you think will help.  And if no one answers, then I suppose I will have a different answer altogether.

Thank you in advance for your help and your understanding.  Please stick around and feel free to read my past reviews.  I’ll “see” you soon…

  1. i wouldn’t mind if it wasn’t every week, and i completely understand that you want a break don’t worry the essential is that you have pleasure reading and blogging so if you need a break to find the passion again take it and we will be there on your return

  2. Well, first of all, I want to reassure you I don’t come here for the giveaways; in fact, I don’t even try to win them! I enjoy reading your reviews which is the reason I return to your blog time and time again. Enjoy your break and when you are ready to begin posting reviews again, I sincerely hope you find enjoyment in reading the books YOU like and posting your reviews on those books! 🙂

  3. Sometimes I think it’s good to take a little break. You definitely don’t want your blog to feel like a job (unless it’s a job you love!). Just for the record, I read almost all of your posts and enjoy them very much (I follow you via email). I also really enjoy your Newsday Tuesday because it’s something new that I don’t see on everyone’s blogs, but I totally understand if you want to cut down on them.

Hope you enjoy your break and you return feeling refreshed and excited about blogging again!
