So…I had a baby

So…I had a baby
19 October, 2016 / 4 Comments

Well, hello everyone!  Hope you all have been doing good!  So, I’m back…again.  Remember that time about a year ago when I went away for a while because I was pregnant?  And then I came back for a few months…and then went away again?  Well, I had my baby about 4.5 months ago.  Now that I am through the newborn fog and moving on to more of the sunshine and lollipops I was actually expecting to come of this (man, they are NOT KIDDING when they tell you it’s hard!  Seriously, people, listen when people give you advice about the […]

Blogging vs. Other Interests

Blogging vs. Other Interests
19 May, 2015 / 1 Comment

It’s strange.  I seem to go through spurts when it comes to blogging.  Sometimes (like when I recreated my blog into its current version), I am so into blogging and so excited about it and just want to post new stuff everyday (and actually think of things to post everyday)…But then come the times when I’m completely lacking motivation.  Either I completely run out of interesting things to talk about or I just don’t feel like blogging.  Sometimes I would just rather be doing other things. I have a lot of interests This is both a good and bad thing […]

SIK Editing Services also has a new Look!

Have you seen my editing website lately?  SIK Editing Services also has a new look! While I was super excited about its face lift at first, now I’m thinking of changing it yet again.  I changed up the look on my editing site before I changed up my blog.  Now, I’m wondering if I should install WordPress on it.  I could just use a static homepage instead of a blog homepage and I think I might be able to give the site an even better look, since I’m becoming more and more familiar with WordPress.  Plus, I would be able […]

What to Consider Before Hiring an Editor

What to Consider Before Hiring an Editor

Here are my suggestions of things to consider before hiring an editor: Editors should make you look good   You want to be sure that the editor you are hiring is someone that is going to put the time and effort in to make your work shine.  That is what you are paying them for, after all.  You don’t want someone who is going to do a sloppy job.  I’ve noticed that some editors tend to get tired by the end of a manuscript and the first half is significantly better edited than the last half.  This is completely unacceptable. […]

Why Editing is Important, Even for Blog Posts

Why Editing is Important, Even for Blog Posts

Today, I want to discuss a little pet peeve of mine.  As you may or may not know, I am a part-time freelance editor.  So, I have very strong feelings when it comes to editing — proofreading in particular.  I can’t stand finding typos, grammatical errors, sentence failures, etc. in books!  It is a HUGE pet peeve of mine.  Especially when there are MULTIPLE errors!  Gah!  Now, I understand that nobody is perfect, okay?  So, the odd mistake…fine.  But, in my opinion, books that are published by large publishing houses should be pretty close to flawless.  Do you know how […]
