About the Editor
Before you make the decision of whether or not to contact me, you would probably like to know a bit about me/my experience, right? Well, first of all, my name is Sam Kasbrick, but you can call me Sam. Nice to meet you! *cyber hand shake*
Okay, now that the formalities are over…
I graduated in April of 2012 from the University of Regina, where I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in English. Since graduating, I have had several opportunities of being a part of what I love: writing and editing. I have written various articles and essays over the years, some published with my name and others ghost-written. Currently, I spend my days writing and editing legal documents.
I am currently working toward building up my client-base for freelance editing. While I am still young and fairly new to editing professionally, I am highly skilled in my field. I believe that being new to the field only causes me to work harder on my projects. My work speaks for itself. I have edited business and legal documents, my personal blog posts, and novel manuscripts. While my passion is editing novel manuscripts, I am proficient in and enjoy editing various works.
The following are the novel manuscripts I have had the pleasure of working on so far:
- Drowning in Deception by Willa Jemhart
- Farewell to Paris by Martin Chu Shui
- Blood of Kings by Karlene Blakemore-Mowle
Services & Fees
A manuscript evaluation is the option you want if you are looking to have professional feedback on the overall manuscript. This option gives you an idea of the whole of your manuscript before beginning the editing stages. I would provide you with “big picture” feedback about your story: how well everything works, if it flows well, plot holes, character development, etc. I simply give suggestions after reading your manuscript; I do not mark up the proof whatsoever.
Prices starting at $0.50 per standard 250-word page, or $0.002 per word*
Proofreading is typically the final stage in the editing process. Once proofs are formatted and edited, proofreading is used to check for basic mechanical errors in the copy (i.e., spelling, grammar, typos).
Prices starting at $1.50 per standard 250-word page, or $0.006 per word*
Copy-editing is editing for grammar, usage, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, consistencies, and other mechanics of style.
Prices starting at $2 per standard 250-word page, or $0.008 per word*
- Prices listed are in Canadian dollars.
- The reason I say “prices starting at” is because there are several things to consider when deciding upon a rate, such as rush jobs (projects with a tight deadline), jobs that require more work than normal (i.e., if English is not your first language), etc.
- A minimum flat fee of $20 will be applied to all smaller projects.
What Clients are Saying
“I highly recommend Sam for all of your editing needs. She has a keen eye and her attention to detail is amazing. While working on my manuscript, not only did she return everything to me in a timely manner, but she was a pleasure to work with. I will most definitely utilize her services again!”
— Willa Jemhart, author of Drowning in Deception
