I find it difficult to stick with a workout for several reasons. The really big one, though, is getting bored of doing the same darn one all the time! I’ve been through many. I’ve done videos (Insanity, Jillian Michaels’ 30 Day Shred, T25), tried the gym, ran on my elliptical, gone for bike rides/walks. So far nothing has stuck.
Every time it starts out the same. Initially, I get really excited about my new workout plan and then I do it for a while, but then get bored or just plain sick of it. Even Insanity and T25, which have a few different videos to allow for switching it up so you’re not doing the same thing every day. While I can say that those two are probably the routines I stuck with for the longest amount of time, I still got sick of them. I did truly love both of these for a time, though. I am absolutely not putting them down. Shaun T. is an amazing coach! I would highly recommend either of Insanity or T25 (tip: if you’re just starting out or just not ready to get completely insane, I would start with T25! Insanity is exactly as the name states – insane!). While I did love these two videos, it sadly wasn’t enough to get me to stay on track.
I hate going to the gym. Granted, I haven’t been in years, but I would just rather workout at home (even though I have a rather small house and barely have enough room to workout comfortably – but I make it work). I don’t know what it is about gyms. Maybe it’s just that I don’t want to workout in front of other people, or I don’t like having to wait to use the machines, or maybe I don’t have a specific reason. I just don’t like it, okay?
I enjoy running on my elliptical, I really do. But I get bored of that too. I get bored if I’m running on it for too long. I find I need something to go with it. Like, work out for maybe 20 to 30 minutes on the elliptical (any more and I get booooored…and my toes go numb – why do they do that?) and then do weights or something. And I can’t just run on the elliptical every day. It’s boring.
Now for the great news!
I found something that will hopefully work to keep me from getting sick of my workout routine! As usual, I am very excited, as I just recently discovered this. But I am super hopeful because it’s something new every day! How could I possibly get bored? I was reading this blog post, wherein Cassie from The Casserole talks about how she is doing this new workout routine. The website is called Tone It Up and it is so amazing.
Every week a new workout schedule is posted for the week and every day is something different! You literally get to switch it up everyday. And if you’re also indecisive like me (ugh, could I have more issues with this?), this site – well, these girls – decide for you what you are going to do to achieve your goals each day. It’s so awesome!
The best part – it’s free! I’ve noticed that there is an option that costs money and the girls who run the site also have DVDs for sale. But the weekly schedule (along with other things including healthy recipes!) is as free as can be. It’s almost too good to be true!
So, anyway, my point is I’m very excited about this new workout routine and I wanted to make anyone else who struggles like me aware that it is out there. Basically, if I don’t stick with this one, I have no more excuses (except maybe how hot my house is in the summer…or how busy life is…).
