It’s not that I don’t like my blog’s name.  I just wish it didn’t have “Book Reviews” in it.  I would love to talk about other interests of mine in addition to books.  I’ve been thinking about doing so a lot lately.  Like, I’m really into nail art and I would love to share new and cool things that I do with my nails with my readers, but that just does not fit with my blog at all.  My name can’t be SIK Book Reviews and then I go and talk about nail stuff, right??  I have other interests too and I feel like my blog would be more alive (and I could have a bit more fun with it and I would probably post more often) if I could talk about things other than books.  But, my name specifically says that my blog is all about books.  And, don’t get me wrong, I love talking about books.  That would still continue.  Mondays and Fridays would still be reserved for book reviews, but the other days could have more!  I just don’t always have something to say about books in a discussion.  You see how often I post discussion posts…not that often.  It has to come to me, and it just doesn’t always come to me, ya know?  So, I feel like if I could add my other interests to the pool of blog topics and just have the freedom to talk about ANYTHING, then I would post more often and have more fun with it!

But, I’m scared.  Here’s why:

1. I don’t want to lose followers!  If I change my name, nobody will know it’s still me and I will have to start all over again!  Remember those days of being a brand new blogger and not having any followers or any site visits and wondering if anyone will ever read what you are putting out there??  I don’t want to have to go through that all over again!  I know that there are ways to keep my readers/followers in the loop and all that and hope that they will follow me with my knew name, but it still scares me.

2. What name would I choose??  I have absolutely no idea what I would call a blog where I could talk about anything, but still be mainly about books.  Seriously.  I’m stumped.

3. Would I have to keep “SIK” in the name??  I feel like my blog and my editing are very closely linked.  They are both like my brand and, in turn, “SIK” is kind of my brand.  (SIK Book Reviews and SIK Editing Services)  And they both share the same Facebook and Twitter.

So.  What’s a girl to do?????

Have you ever changed your blog’s name?  How did it turn out?  Are you glad you did it?
Have you ever wanted to change your blog’s name? Why didn’t you?
What do you think I should do about my predicament???

  1. I honestly think that it’s okay to talk about stuff other than book reviews, even if “book reviews” is part of your title. My url is amstationreviews.blogspot.com and I don’t always just write reviews. . .the blog police won’t sue you =) Additionally, you could just change the blog name and not the url. . .I don’t think people would mind. However, if you choose to change both, just have a link on this blog that directs to your new one. . .I’m sure people would follow you over there (to your new one) because you are such a fabulous writer!

  2. I would suggest to just try it out and write a few posts about other topics. I was afraid to share non-bookish posts at first too, but I find out most visitors tend to love those posts that give them a bit insight in the person behind the blog or their other hobbies. I think your current blog name still would work as it shows the focus is on books, but that doesn’t mean there can’t be posts about other subjects.
