I am a big lover of ranch. I always have been and I always will be. But have you looked at the ingredients on a bottle of store-bought ranch? Below is a picture taken from Kraft ranch dressing (which used to be my favourite).
There are so many ingredients! That is not necessary, people!
Today, I’m going to share with you a “skinny” version of ranch dressing (or dip – up to you!) that I found on the amazing site The Skinny Fork. Not only is this recipe lighter in calories, sodium, fat, and sugar, it only has four ingredients, AND it is extremely quick and easy to make! There is no reason at all not to switch to this skinny homemade ranch and kick the store-bought ranch to the curb!
1/2 c. Fat Free Plain Greek Yogurt
2 Tbsp. Fat Free Milk (+ 1-2 Tbsp. for Dressing)
3 1/2 Tbsp. Light Mayonnaise
1/2 Tbsp. Dry Ranch Seasoning (which you can find a homemade version of as well here)
All you do is whisk all the above ingredients (leaving out the additional 1-2 Tbsp. of milk) in a bowl. Then, you decide the consistency by adding more milk to your liking. And it will look like this:
Comparison of nutritional info
Based on a serving size of 1 Tbsp., the homemade ranch has 20.1 calories and store-bought has 50!
Homemade has 57.7 mg of sodium, while store-bought has 115 mg!
Homemade has 1.2 g of fat, while store-bought has 6 g!
Which ranch would you rather eat?
