Re-replying to a Comment

Re-replying to a Comment
13 April, 2017 / 5 Comments

The Situation You make a comment on someone’s blog post. The blogger kindly replies to your comment. But the blogger asks a question in his/her reply. Ask Yourself Do you make the effort to return to the blog to re-reply to your initial comment to answer the blogger’s question? Why or Why Not? Okay, I don’t get why people don’t do this. Please don’t take offence if you are one of the people that don’t, as I am just expressing my opinion. In fact, I would like to hear from you! Please explain to me why not. The way I […]

Commenting on old Blog Posts

Commenting on old Blog Posts
15 February, 2017 / 22 Comments

This thought actually occurred to me recently when I was reading the February Discussion Challenge Link-Up & Giveaway on FYFA. You can earn extra points toward the giveaway by commenting on select old discussion posts of the chosen blogger. This got me wondering: how often do you comment on older blog posts? I almost never have people commenting on my older posts. At most it would be posts from the last month getting new comments. If I do get new comments on my old posts, it’s typically only spam comments, not even real ones. I, myself, will comment on older […]

Freezing when Commenting!

Freezing when Commenting!
2 February, 2017 / 16 Comments

Does this ever happen to you? You write this big, long, thoughtful comment on a blog post.  You fill out your name, email, and website address and then click submit.  You wait.  You look at the little circle going round and round…and then the error page pops up!  But you just put so much time and effort into that comment all for it to just disappear into thin air. What do you do now? Do you re-type the comment?  Do you re-write a much shorter comment just so that you say at least part of what you wanted to say? […]

Negative Comments

Negative Comments
17 January, 2017 / 14 Comments

I recently received a negative comment here on my blog and I was taken aback.  I didn’t know what to do about it.  I moderate my comments because I don’t want a bunch of spam comments going up, and so I wasn’t sure whether I should approve this negative comment or not. Now, I’m not saying this person was negative in the way that they were disagreeing with me or something.  No.  This person was straight-up rude in their comment.  Comments that disagree with me or an opinion I express, sure!  Go for it!  I love discussing even if we […]

So…I had a baby

So…I had a baby
19 October, 2016 / 4 Comments

Well, hello everyone!  Hope you all have been doing good!  So, I’m back…again.  Remember that time about a year ago when I went away for a while because I was pregnant?  And then I came back for a few months…and then went away again?  Well, I had my baby about 4.5 months ago.  Now that I am through the newborn fog and moving on to more of the sunshine and lollipops I was actually expecting to come of this (man, they are NOT KIDDING when they tell you it’s hard!  Seriously, people, listen when people give you advice about the […]

I wish I would have kept Screenshots of My old Blog

I wish I would have kept Screenshots of My old Blog
3 May, 2016 / 12 Comments

I’ve had this new blog for over a year now and while I love it, I find myself wishing I would have kept screenshots of my old blog, SIK Book Reviews.  I put quite a bit of effort into how it looked at its end.  I made my own pictures for the headers and I had a cute little logo that my sister did up for me: So, clearly, my colours were purple and pink.  Isn’t that a cute logo?  I don’t really have a logo for this blog.  I just created the header with the stars that you see up […]

Should a blog focus on only one topic or many?

Should a blog focus on only one topic or many?
19 April, 2016 / 6 Comments

Since changing up my blog and adding topics to it so that now it is more of a general blog – or at least doesn’t only focus on books now – I’ve wondered about this.  Is this a good idea?  Or is it better to just focus on one topic?  See, the thing with me is that I have many interests and I find myself wanting to share and talk about them.  However, not every reader or follower of my blog is going to be interested in all of my topics: books, food/exercise, nails (and now pregnancy/parenting). Since starting this […]

I’m Back, Plus One :)

Hey there everybody!  I know, I know, it’s been FOREVER, right?  Well, I have a reason for my very unexpected hiatus… Are you ready for it?… I’m PREGNANT!  What?  I know!  It came as quite a shock to me and hubby as well.  But, I suppose it is time for us to start a family that consists of more than just the two of us and our furry friends.  We have been married almost 4 years, so sure!  It’s time.  Even though it was a surprise, we are definitely happy about it and cannot wait to start this new chapter of our […]

The Clash of Blogging and Summertime

The Clash of Blogging and Summertime
21 July, 2015 / 4 Comments

Is it just me or is it much harder to stay motivated and consistent with blogging come summertime?  I feel like there are so many things going on in the summer that my blog suffers because of it.  Life is busy at the best of times, but summer is even worse.  There are weddings, barbecues, travelling, and more!  These things make it difficult to have time for blogging…and even reading! Not to mention – who wants to just sit on a computer for however long to keep up with blogging when it’s so beautiful outside?  Especially for someone (like me) […]

What Makes a Good Blog?

What Makes a Good Blog?
9 June, 2015 / 7 Comments

After discussing what makes a good discussion post, I got to thinking about what it is that makes a good blog – a blog that draws followers and keeps people coming back.  There are many factors involved, I’m sure.  However, even if you do everything right, does it guarantee you will have lots of followers?  What draws others in and causes them to like your blog?? Design I see design as being a big factor when it comes to gaining followers.  I mean, really, it’s the first thing potential readers will see.  Before they even get to reading anything, they […]
