Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish every Tuesday.  Every week it’s a different topic and those of us who decide to join in share our top ten for the week’s topic! This week is Top Ten Auto-Buy Authors.  I switched it a bit because I just suck at buying books from authors I already read.  I love checking out new authors, even though I do wish to read more from my faves!  So, my slightly tweaked Top Ten is my top Go-To Authors.  If I’m looking to buy a new book I […]

The Clash of Blogging and Summertime

The Clash of Blogging and Summertime
21 July, 2015 / 4 Comments

Is it just me or is it much harder to stay motivated and consistent with blogging come summertime?  I feel like there are so many things going on in the summer that my blog suffers because of it.  Life is busy at the best of times, but summer is even worse.  There are weddings, barbecues, travelling, and more!  These things make it difficult to have time for blogging…and even reading! Not to mention – who wants to just sit on a computer for however long to keep up with blogging when it’s so beautiful outside?  Especially for someone (like me) […]

Does Reading More Make You Harder to Please?

Does Reading More Make You Harder to Please?
14 July, 2015 / 4 Comments

Lately I’ve been wondering if the more I read, the less impressed I am by books.  Do you know what I mean? As I’ve discussed previously, it has been a ridiculously long time since I’ve rated a book 5 stars.  Now, is that because I really just haven’t found a really great book in over a year, or is it some other reason?  Is it maybe that I’ve read so many books that I’m harder to please?  I think it’s possible that I get harder on books the more I read because I have more and more books to compare my […]

Will Book Publishing Houses Ever Cease to Exist?

Will Book Publishing Houses Ever Cease to Exist?
23 June, 2015 / 3 Comments

Another random thought popped into my head and since I’m embracing whatever my mind decides to come up with for discussions, I’m going to be talking about another odd one.  I was thinking about whether book publishing houses will ever cease to exist.  I recently talked about the possibility of books not having covers and what would happen if they didn’t.  This spurred some talk about the fact that it could happen some day, due to eBooks becoming more and more popular.  So, what if eBooks some day take over and there are no more print books?  How will this […]

What Makes a Good Blog?

What Makes a Good Blog?
9 June, 2015 / 7 Comments

After discussing what makes a good discussion post, I got to thinking about what it is that makes a good blog – a blog that draws followers and keeps people coming back.  There are many factors involved, I’m sure.  However, even if you do everything right, does it guarantee you will have lots of followers?  What draws others in and causes them to like your blog?? Design I see design as being a big factor when it comes to gaining followers.  I mean, really, it’s the first thing potential readers will see.  Before they even get to reading anything, they […]

I don’t read books with embarrassing covers

I don’t read books with embarrassing covers
2 June, 2015 / 9 Comments

You know those romance books with the half-naked dudes or with a man and a woman looking very intimate?  I see these books and I run from them.  I don’t know why, as it shouldn’t stop me from reading the book, but it does.  I find myself stopping from even beginning to read a synopsis if a cover looks embarrassing like this.  Even if I’m planning on getting an eBook of it! I seriously don’t mean to do this.  I just find these covers to be too embarrassing or too intimidating or…I don’t know!  There really is no good reason […]

Blogging vs. Other Interests

Blogging vs. Other Interests
19 May, 2015 / 1 Comment

It’s strange.  I seem to go through spurts when it comes to blogging.  Sometimes (like when I recreated my blog into its current version), I am so into blogging and so excited about it and just want to post new stuff everyday (and actually think of things to post everyday)…But then come the times when I’m completely lacking motivation.  Either I completely run out of interesting things to talk about or I just don’t feel like blogging.  Sometimes I would just rather be doing other things. I have a lot of interests This is both a good and bad thing […]

What if Books Didn’t Have Covers?

What if Books Didn’t Have Covers?
5 May, 2015 / 16 Comments

What if books weren’t covered with that glossy beautiful image around them?  What if books just had a blank front and back (like just plain black or something)?  Or what if they didn’t have anything protecting the words on the pages and the “cover” was just the first page of the book?  Do you think there would be as many readers?  Do you think it would affect the types of books you pick up?  What if all books looked like the following? I have a feeling that if books didn’t have covers, we would choose our books differently.  I’ve mentioned […]
