Fangirling for Divergent, Insurgent, & Allegiant

Fangirling for Divergent, Insurgent, & Allegiant

(of sorts) So, as I’m sure you all know (or, at least, you should all know), Allegiant is hitting stores in LESS THAN A MONTH (October 22, to be exact)!!!  I am so super excited about this!  I loved Divergent and Insurgent and cannot wait to read Allegiant.  If you haven’t read them yet, get on it!  Now is the perfect time to pick them up…just in time for the third book. Actually, I am about to start re-reading Divergent and Insurgent in preparation for Allegiant!  This time, I will be reading with my husband (I may or may not […]

I Dislike Writing Mediocre Reviews

I Dislike Writing Mediocre Reviews
24 September, 2013 / 2 Comments

I really don’t like writing mediocre reviews.  You know, those reviews for books that are just okay, you didn’t love but didn’t hate either.  I way more prefer to write reviews on books that I LOVED or really, really didn’t like. If I love a book, you know I’ll have a whole heck of a lot to say about it.  I will gush and gush about all the aspects that made it so wonderful.  And I will usually have interesting things to say about all the main points of the book (plot, characters, creativity, writing, etc.) because it was just […]

My New Bookish Discovery: Wattpad

I’m assuming a bunch of you already know about this, but since I didn’t until about a week ago I thought I would share the knowledge for those of you who do not. I just got a new phone around a week ago.  I switched from the Windows Phone 7 to an Android, the HTC One to be exact.  I’m really stoked about this, you guys!  While I loved the Windows Phone, I hated the lack of apps.  It seems as though the majority of apps are only available for Android or iPhone.  So, I made the switch (particularly because […]

Top Ten Books I Would Love to See as a Movie/TV Show

Top Ten Books I Would Love to See as a Movie/TV Show
10 September, 2013 / 2 Comments

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish every Tuesday.  Every week it’s a different topic and those of us who decide to join in share our top ten for the week’s topic! This week’s topic is Top Ten Books I Would Love to See as a Movie/TV Show (set in a perfect world…in which movies don’t butcher the books we love). I hope it’s okay that some of them are actually going to be (or have been optioned for) a movie/TV show.  It should count, because I would love to see them (and can’t wait […]

Do You Read Acknowledgements?

Do You Read Acknowledgements?
27 August, 2013 / 23 Comments

Okay, so I ALWAYS read the Acknowledgements section at the back of each and every book that I finish.  I recently discovered that not everyone does this and I am just shocked at how few actually do.  I guess it shouldn’t surprise me as much as it does, because people read novels for the story, not to learn about the author I suppose.  But, reading the acknowledgements is just something I feel the need to do. I’m not sure if it’s because I am an editor and editors are always listed and thanked in the Acknowledgements, which just gives me […]

The lovely Jamie over at The Perpetual Page-Turner posted this a couple weeks ago and invited other bloggers to join in on the fun.  Although I’m a little late to the party, I still thought it would be a fun thing to take part in, so here goes… (Image borrowed from Jamie as well) Author you’ve read the most books from: Carrie Jones Best sequel ever: Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi — just because it surprised me with how much more I loved it than Shatter Me.   Currently Reading: Gravity by Melissa West Drink of choice while reading: Oh, […]

To Finish or Not to Finish?

To Finish or Not to Finish?
7 July, 2013 / 2 Comments

Recently, I started a book that I just could not get into.  I mean, at all.  I couldn’t connect with the characters and I wasn’t able to get into the story.  So, then there comes the time when I have to decide whether to finish the book (and practically torture myself) or just put the book down and chalk it up as a “DNF”.  This is always a very difficult decision for me.  Especially if the book is a review copy from a publisher/author!  They have given me this book, trusting that I will write an honest review at the […]
