The Situation You make a comment on someone’s blog post. The blogger kindly replies to your comment. But the blogger asks a question in his/her reply. Ask Yourself Do you make the effort to return to the blog to re-reply to your initial comment to answer the blogger’s question? Why or Why Not? Okay, I don’t get why people don’t do this.   This thought actually occurred to me recently when I was reading the February Discussion Challenge Link-Up & Giveaway on FYFA. You can earn extra points toward the giveaway by commenting on select old discussion posts of the chosen blogger. This got me wondering: how often do you comment on older blog posts? I almost never have people commenting on my older posts. At most it would be posts from the last month getting new comments. Does this ever happen to you? You write this big, long, thoughtful comment on a blog post.  You fill out your name, email, and website address and then click submit.  You wait.  You look at the little circle going round and round…and then the error page pops up!  But you just put so much time and effort into that comment all for it to just disappear into thin air. I often wonder just what makes a really good discussion post.  What key elements do you need in said post?  What decides whether you are going to get tons of traffic/comments or if it will just be left mostly unseen?
