discussion

Is it just me or is it much harder to stay motivated and consistent with blogging come summertime?  I feel like there are so many things going on in the summer that my blog suffers because of it.  Life is busy at the best of times, but summer is even worse.  There are weddings, barbecues, travelling, and more!  These things make it difficult to have time for blogging…and even reading!

Not to mention – who wants to just sit on a computer for however long to keep up with blogging when it’s so beautiful outside?  Especially for someone (like me) who sits in an office all day. When am I supposed to enjoy the summer that always seems too short up here in Canada.

I’ve mentioned before how I tend to go in spurts when it comes to blogging, and summer is definitely a time when I’m on the slacking side of the spurt.

My point is that it’s just a struggle for me to keep up with blogging consistently.  So, while this is a discussion, it’s also an apology for those times when my blog gets left behind due to other things. There are just so many things going on in the summer that I find it hard to find the time to blog!

Share your story: Do you find it more of a struggle to keep up with your blog in the summertime, either because of a busier schedule or just wanting to spend more time outdoors?  Does it drive you crazy when your blog isn’t getting the attention it usually does?  How do you deal with this issue?

  1. I struggle ALL the time with consistently posting on my blog! No matter how carefully I plan, life just gets in the way and puts me behind. I hope some others post their ways of dealing with it. I know one key is writing a whole bunch in advance and setting them to post on a schedule, but I can’t even find the time for that. It’s a lot like all those time saving tips about cooking for the family — plan meals, shop for them, and then cook them all up on Sunday so you have meals for the week. HAHAHAHAHAHA. I always have the best intentions.

  2. Oh, this is such an interesting topic, because I’ve actually found the opposite to be true – I am SO much more productive during the summer than during any other time of the year! I think it could be because I don’t have any school, so I can devote all of my time to things that I truly love – reading and writing and music and, of course, blogging. Sometimes it’s a bit hard to stick to a schedule of my own creation, but I’ve learned to get better at it, which is really nice to have a steady flow of productivity for blogging and other passions. xx

  3. I’ve never been a big summer person – I don’t do heat or being outside and things like that, BUT, I have noticed myself wanting to chill a lot more and do other things besides blog this year, and that’s strange feeling for me. Maybe, take some times to appreciate the good weather in the day and blog a little with a space 30 minutes here and there, see what you can do? If you lose your mojo, when Autumn comes crashing back, you may struggle to get a grip again, you know? 🙂
