top ten tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish every Tuesday.  Every week it’s a different topic and those of us who decide to join in share our top ten for the week’s topic!

This week I am sharing my top picks for books that every dystopian lover should read.  In no particular order, here they are (click the image to go to my full review):

Ten

shatter me

Okay, first of all, these covers are GORGEOUS!  Not sure how anyone could walk by them in a book store and not pick them up.  Anyway…this first book was actually my least favourite of the series, but I fell in love with the second book and on.  Great series!  I need to re-read it because I’m sure now that I’m so in love with the story and characters that I would love the first book as much as the other two.

Nine

the selection

Love this series!  And it started off amazing with this book.  P.S. – the final book is coming out next month!!  Sooo excited..hope I get to read it right away and I’m not in labour or something!

Eight

pivot-point

Another favourite!  Made my heart ache!  And I love duologies!

Seven

the hunger games

I think I’ve made my thoughts on this series clear throughout the years on this blog.  All-time favourite book.  (This was also my very first review on my blog!)

Six

divergent

I loved this book so much the first time I read it.  Sadly, my re-read of it didn’t turn out quite so well, but I would still say that it’s a must read for dystopian lovers!

Five

the-program

So good!  It’s an emotional ride!

Four

uninvited

Such an interesting and unique concept.  I mean, a kill gene?!  How creative!  And it was delivered well!

Three

don't turn around

Okay, this book was a really, really good one.  However, the rest of the series turns out to be rather disappointing.  I still think it’s worth it because this first book is so darn good, but the choice is yours.

Two

delirium

I think most people have heard of this one, if you haven’t already read it.  And, well, it lived up to the hype!

One

defiance

A really good book with badass main characters!

What would your top ten dystopian books be?  Do you agree with my choices?

  1. There are several in your list that are on my TBR list. For my list, I would definitely include the Testing series by Joelle Charbonneau, Neal Schusterman’s Unwind Series, and Marie Lu’s Legend series. I have found the best dystopians are YA!

I have yet to read the Testing series and the Legend series, but they are on my TBR list! I honestly wasn’t a fan of Unwind.

Yes, I love the dystopia genre! Glad you’re loving the Unwind series…I wasn’t a fan of that one, but I know a lot of people who love it!
