Don’t Eat That is a new feature I am starting where I tell you what not to eat! And you better listen to me, or else! Haha, just kidding. I’m just sharing what knowledge I have that you may or may not have already heard in the hopes that I can advise you about food you didn’t know was bad for you. Keep in mind that I’m not an expert on nutrition, but I have learned some things and I love to make people aware! First up:
No, no, I’m not saying stay away from honey! Honey is actually good for you. If you buy the right stuff. I am telling to you stay away from unhealthy honey, however. Most honey is unhealthy. Most honey that you buy in your grocery store is very little amounts of actual honey mixed with large amounts of plain ol’ sugar! They heat it and pasteurize it and by doing so take away all the nutritional value that natural honey has and leave you with this liquid sugar! Since discovering this fact, I never buy the unhealthy honey anymore. Why would you?
So, what you want to do is buy the healthy stuff, right? What you need is to find raw, organic, unpasteurized, unheated honey. The stuff that comes straight from these guys:
You can easily find this at a health food store. Trust me, if I can find it in my crappy city that is horrible for shopping because you can never find anything(!), then you should be able to find it near where you live (hopefully!). If you’re at a health food store, chances are all the honeys they sell are what you want, but you can always ask to be sure. If it doesn’t say the words “raw,” “organic,” and “unheated,” you should ask just in case!
I swear to you it tastes the same as the bad stuff! However, it is a bit more pricey. But soooo worth it! Processed sugar is so bad for you! And healthy honey has tons of health benefits you can find out about here.
