Down the TBR Hole (1)

22 November, 2018 / 6 Comments

Down the TBR Hole is a meme that began at Lost in a Story.  My never-ending, ever-growing TBR list on Goodreads definitely needs some help and this meme was designed to do just that!  What a fun way to downsize my to-read list while involving you guys – you can let me know if I’ve made a big mistake and try to convince me to go another way!

Here are the rules (quoted from Lost in a Story):

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

I’m going to do 5 books at a time (and I’m going to try to do this every one to two weeks) starting from the very first books I added on Goodreads.  Right now, my to-read list is sitting at 948 books.  (Spoiler alert: this is really hard!!!)

Changeling (Order of Darkness #1) by Philippa Gregory

I read Philippa Gregory’s The Other Boleyn Girl YEARS ago and loved it.  But these days, I’m not the hugest fan of historical fiction.  So, this is a tough one for me.  I think I’m going to keep this one, since it’s YA and I’ve enjoyed this author in the past.  I’m not completely confident in this choice, though.

Glitch (Glitch #1) by Heather Anastasiu

This one had a whole lot of hype behind it when I added it to Goodreads so long ago.  It still sounds interesting to me and I love a good dystopian novel, so I’ll keep this one.

The Tenth Circle by Jodi Picoult

Anything Jodi Picoult is an automatic keep!  I have yet to be disappointed by her books.

Clouded Vision by Linwood Barclay

I’ve read three books by this author, with one standout.  The first book I read by him was No Time for Goodbye and I loved it.  I thought it was so good.  Then I went on to read two others, Fear the Worst and A Tap on the Window.  Neither was bad, but they didn’t wow me like that first one did.  This is so hard!  I think I’ll keep this one just because that first book I read was so good, so I need to keep trying this author!

The Accident by Linwood Barclay

Same deal as the previous book!

Okay, so I didn’t end up getting any books off my list this week, but I think that’s okay!  Hopefully I’ll take some off next week.  I can tell already that it’s going to be really hard to let books go!!!

Share your story: Do you agree with my decisions?  Should I have let any of these books go?  Let me know!

  1. I like this idea but my problem is I’m pretty sure I want to read everything on my list! I do need to put a dent in thne massive tbr next year and that means a ban on buying paperbacks until next year!

Right!? I hope I am actually able to let go of some books! It’s so hard, but I’m never going to be able to read all these books, so I need to lessen the load as much as possible! Good luck putting in your dent and with your ban!! It’s so hard not to buy new books!!
