May BoxyCharm

I subscribe to a monthly beauty box called BoxyCharm and decided it would be fun to share what’s in the box and talk about my thoughts on the products!  I love these boxes because you get so much value for so little money!  The box is $21.00 USD per month and in this May box, I got $174.00 worth of product!  How amazing is that??  Okay, let’s get started…

Pur Sculptor Palette

Description provided in the box: A four-shade sculpting palette that features two high-beam highlighters and two matte contour shades that will leave the skin sculpted to perfection with highly pigmented and buttery formulas.
Retail Price: $30.00 USD | #PURBASH

My thoughts: I thought the light highlighter was good and I will continue to use it.  The pink one is too shimmery for my liking.  The brown shades are too dark for my skin tone, so I can’t use them for bronzer.  So, really, there’s only one usable product in this palette, so that’s not something I’m going to use all the time.

CoverFX Blurring Primer

Description provided in the box: A lightweight, soft focus primer that blurs the appearance of pores, fine lines, and other imperfections creating a smooth canvas for flawless foundation application.
Retail Price: $38.00 USD | #COVERFXBASH

My thoughts: Being someone with such fair skin, this product made me unsure at first, as it comes out of the tube as a dark brown colour.  However, the colour disappeared once I rubbed it into my skin.  Phew!  It actually did a nice job blurring my skin.  I’ve never experienced a primer that actually made this much if a visible difference before, so I’m impressed!  It dries down matte, which is okay, but I prefer a more dewy finish because I have dry skin.  My skin felt very soft after applying.  I’m willing to deal with the matte finish and continue using this primer, as I think the pros outweigh the cons.

Pretty Vulgar The Ink Gel Eyeliner

Description provided in the box: This highly-pigmented gel eyeliner provides quick-drying application with enriched vitamin C to condition the lids.  Its creamy and water-resistant formula allows for smooth application that stays in place all day.
Retail Price: $24.00 | #PRETTYVULGARBASH

My thoughts: The liner itself was good.  This was actually my first time trying a gel liner and I liked it.  It does dry down matte and applies really nicely.  It is long-lasting.  It didn’t budge all day and was even a bit difficult to wash off at the end of the day with my makeup remover wipe.

I’m not a fan of the packaging.  I like the concept and think it looks cute, but it’s not practical.  It’s too deep and dark, so it’s difficult to see how much product you’re getting on the brush.  I didn’t like that.  I would always dip too deep and then have to wipe off the excess.  The lid also felt very cheap.  It was rather difficult to put it back on properly.  I will continue to use this liner, though, as the product itself is good!  Next time, I might try a different brand, though, because this packaging is no good in my opinion.

Aesthetica 3 Piece Eye Trio

Description provided in the box: The Aesthetica Trio Series comes with an Angled Eyeliner brush, a Brow Spoolie, and a Fine Tipped Eyeliner Brush.  A convenient 3 in 1, used for a wide variety of looks, from a subtle wing to dramatic cat-eye.  Use the brow brush for fuller, more defined eyebrows.
Retail Price: $45.00 USD | #AESTHETICABASH

My thoughts: The spoolie is good, but they’re all pretty much the same in my opinion.  The angled brush is much too thick for my liking!  I started using it to apply the liner, but had to switch! Maybe if you like really thick eyeliner, but even then I’m not sure you would be able to do a very precise wing or inner corner.  I don’t know.  I didn’t like the angled one at all due to the thickness.  I don’t think I’ll ever use it again.  The fine-tipped eyeliner brush is good.  It worked well to apply the liner.

Aesthetica P12 Face Brush

Description provided in the box: With synthetic fibers that allow for maximum control, the P12 face brush is perfect for creating a seamless look.
Retail Price: $27.00 USD | #AESTHETICABASH

My thoughts: This isn’t a brush I’ll be reaching for, I don’t think.  I tried it with my bronzer and with my blush.  It was okay for both, but not my favourite.  It applied my blush too strong for my liking and I just prefer a different brush for my bronzer.

Beauty Creations Liquid Lip Gloss

Description provided in the box: Beauty Creations Matte Liquid Lip Gloss is specially formulated to provide full coverage that dries to a seamless, smooth and matte finish.  Its lightweight application is long wearing for an effortless lip color that compliments all skin-tones.

My thoughts: The colour is nice and I do agree that it would compliment all skin tones.  However, it is not long-lasting, or at least it wasn’t for me.  It got weirdly patchy after only a couple hours and I didn’t eat or drink anything during that time.  So, that’s the opposite of long-lasting in my opinion.  And it’s not like it simply faded away, it actually looked quite awful and patchy.  I don’t think I’m going to use this again.
