What’s Next?

What’s Next? is a weekly meme hosted by Icey Books.  For this meme,
I provide 3-5 books that I want/have to read soon and you vote
on which one I should read next!  Super fun, I think!
This week I need help deciding which non-new release to read for
my Vow to the Older Book for November 1!
So…help me decide…
Which one should I read next??

Graceling (Graceling Realm #1) by Kristin Cashore

His eyes, Katsa had never seen such eyes. One was silver, and the other, gold. They glowed in his sun-darkened face, uneven, and strange. She was surprised that they hadn’t shone in the darkness of their first meeting. They didn’t seem human….

Then he raised his eyebrows a hair, and his mouth shifted into the hint of a smirk. He nodded at her, just barely, and it released her from her spell.

Cocky, she thought. Cocky and arrogant, this one, and that was all there was to make of him. Whatever game he was playing, if he expected her to join him he would be disappointed.

In a world where people born with an extreme skill — called a Grace — are feared and exploited, Katsa carries the burden of the skill even she despises: the Grace of killing. She lives under the command of her uncle Randa, King of the Middluns, and is expected to execute his dirty work, punishing and torturing anyone who displeases him.

When she first meets Prince Po, who is Graced with combat skills, Katsa has no hint of how her life is about to change.

She never expects to become Po’s friend.

She never expects to learn a new truth about her own Grace — or about a terrible secret that lies hidden far away…a secret that could destroy all seven kingdoms with words alone.

Matched (Matched #1) by Ally Condie

Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander’s face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate…until she sees Ky Markham’s face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.

The Society tells her it’s a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she’s destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can’t stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society’s infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she’s known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.

Delirium (Delirium #1) by Lauren Oliver

Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing. They didn’t understand that once love — the deliria — blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold. Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the government demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Holoway has always looked forward to the day when she’ll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy.

But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: She falls in love.

Please leave a comment with what you think I should read/review next to help me decide!
Thanks!! 🙂

  1. I’d go with matched too, even though I have read Delirium yet. I tried to read Delirium before and couldn’t get into it. I’ve been wanting to read matched for a long time though!
Check out my what’s next and help me decide!

  2. Graceling! I thought it was one of the best and most original books I read this year.

I am pretty neutral on both Matched and Delirium. They have a lot in common in that they’re dystopians about love, but I’d say Delirium has better writing. I haven’t bothered reading the sequel to either yet, whereas I read through the entire Graceling trilogy in less than a week.

  3. Okay, so it seems we have a 3-way tie!! Wow, that’s pretty crazy! So…I got my sister to be the tie-breaker and she voted for Graceling.

Thanks, everyone, for voting! I am going to start reading Graceling today! 🙂
